ISO Quality Services auditor Daniel Pemberton presented Syntec Managing Director Dave Riley and Sales and Marketing Director Sarah Rogers with the ISO 27001 Information Security Certification on November 11. The certification from the Internal Standards Organisation ensures that companies follow policies to improve information security and minimize the risk from data breaches.

Riley identified the need for a formalized Information Security Management System (ISMS) after meetings with our clients. This certification shows that we take information security seriously. We ensure the protection and confidentiality of our customers data and have detailed policies in place to safeguard all information assets. Our team have been working with ISO Quality Services Ltd since August to document policies relating to information security and ensure compliance with the ISO 27001 standard. This modified Syntec’s ISMS to comply with the most up-to-date standard, that was last published in 2013.

These policies are summarized in the Information Security Policy Statement. The team also compiled an asset register, risk assessments, a legislation compliance document and has conducted staff training. Syntec is working towards compliance with all 114 controls in the standard through the Statement of Applicability. Syntec will continue to focus on information security, with six-monthly audits to ensure continued compliance.
