Hardware Spotlight: Zebra MC9400/MC9450
Introducing the latest in Zebra’s MC9000 series: the MC9400 and MC9450, designed for the toughest of industrial environments. Featuring a trigger grip, swappable keyboards, and a 100ft scanning distance, the MC94 range is built to handle whatever your factory or warehouse environment can throw at it.
Unique Form Factor
The MC94 is built for barcode scanning under difficult circumstances. The built-in scanner can be activated with the trigger grip or the keypad; and, with the SE58 extended range scan engine, can detect barcodes over 30m away. And if it sounds hard to aim at that distance, don’t worry—the new green laser aimer is seven times more visible than the usual red dot, meaning you can scan those hard-to-reach top-rack pallets without a problem.
Not keen on the standard keypad? There are seven different configurations available—and they can be swapped on site, so no need to send them off to service. And all models have both a front (8 MP) and rear (16 MP) camera, allowing for video calls or high-res photos as needed.
On the accessories front, there are multiple potential configurations for charging cradles, vehicle mounts, headsets, holsters, clips, and more. And if you’re already using the MC9300 series? All those accessories you invested in are still compatible with the new range, so it’s easier to upgrade than ever.
Connectivity and Performance
The MC9400 range runs Android, supported through to A18, so you can be confident
All versions support high-performance WiFi 6; and the MC9450 supports 5G, taking 1 nano SIM and/or an eSIM, and GPS, making it ideal for vehicle fleets.
The Qualcomm 4490 octa-core 2.4GHz CPU and 6GB of RAM give laptop-levels of performance right in your hand, and all versions have 128GB of storage space as standard (expandable to 2TB with a MicroSD card).
Ultra-Rugged
The 4.3in display and scanner window are scratch and shatter resistant Corning Gorilla Glass—so not only is your screen built to last, it’ll work when wet or when you’re wearing gloves. The entire device is IP68 rated with the battery in, so it’s sealed against dust and capable of handling full immersion in water. And it’s been drop-tested at 12ft to concrete, meaning it can take some serious punishment and still keep on running.
The battery capacity is up to 7000mAh, so you can keep going for a full shift—and if you need it for even longer, hot-swap support means you can switch out a spare battery without powering down the device or losing any data.
Some environments have even more specific requirements—but don’t worry, the MC94 range still has you covered. The freezer variant can run down to -30°C and features a freezer-resistant battery and a heated touch panel and scanner window to prevent condensation. There’s also a non-incendive (Class 1 Div 2) version for use in areas with hazardous materials such as flammable gases.
